RAAA Mission

Rosemount Area Athletic Association (RAAA) is a volunteer organization that serves the children of our community through athletic programs designed to develop both social and athletic skills.

Fall Traveling Volleyball

RAAA is now offer traveling / JO volleyball for girls in 4th – 7th grade. Specific dates and times will depend on permitting and availability of facilities. We hope to have this information by July 15th, 2009. Please check the website for updates.

There will be 3 teams consisting of 8-9 players each. Tryouts are tentatively scheduled to be held after the Irish Volleyball Elementary Camp on Tuesday and Thursday night, July 28th and 30th. There will be a tryout fee of $15. The season will begin the week of August 2nd and end in late October with games beginning after school starts. Practices will be held on late Sunday afternoons or early Sunday evenings and then one later practice once during the week and should not conflict with fall softball or soccer. This is a great opportunity for pre-season JO practice, for girls who play a winter traveling sport to play a season of traveling volleyball and girls looking for a more of a challenge than the in-house program. 4th- 6th grade Girls who tryout and do not make a team can be transferred to the in house volleyball program with no late fee. Only girls in the Rosemount High School boundaries can try out for Fall Traveling Volleyball.

4th /5th Grade – There will be 1 team with a combination of 4th and 5th graders. The cost is $150. This team will play double headers on Monday evenings in September and October.

6th Grade – There will be 1 team of 6th graders who will play in the double header league on Monday nights and will also play on 6 Saturday mornings in September and October. Because this team plays in 2 leagues the cost is $185 per player.

7th Grade – There will be 1 team of 7th graders who will play games on Saturday mornings only. This team was created to allow players to continue to play at a high level and prepare for the Winter JO season. This will not interfere with Middle School volleyball, so players CAN play both. The cost is $150.

Please contact Lisa Slinde for more information.

Keeping Informed:

RAAA is increasingly using email as its primary communication method with families both prior to registrations and following registration in a program. For this reason it is important that during the registration process you provide an email address that is actively checked by someone in your family on a regular basis. These emails are generated by athletechs in conjunction with their registration system.

Signups open several months before the season begins for each sport. To receive email reminders when registrations open subscribe to the athletechs Registrations newsletter by sending an email to: registrations-on@lists.athletechs.com

Registration:

RAAA uses athletechs for Online Registrations. Online registration accepts credit cards and e-Checks.

If you need to sign up for a program and cannot signup through the Online Registration, contact the RAAA Registrar at (952)423-7222.

Upon success completion of your registration you will receive a Receipt email confirming your registration and payment. You can keep this email for your records or log into your athletechs account and review any of your completed registrations.

When registrations close you will receive a Welcome email confirming your participation and informing you of the next steps, upcoming meetings and events, and scheduling changes or updates.

If you have not received the "Welcome" message after registrations close, please let us know by sending us an email at registrar@rosemount-aaa.org with your contact information and the program name.

Throughout the season you will receive messages informing you meetings and events, and scheduling changes or updates.

Late Registration:

NO REGISTRATIONS are accepted after online registrations CLOSE. A $10.00 LATE FEE is applied to all registrations accepted after the posted registration close date.

Waiting List:

Once a registration closes due to capacity or the registration close date passes a Waiting List may be offered. By being placed on a registration waiting list does NOT guarantee that the registrant will be able to actually participate.

If accepted you will receive an email with registration instructions.

Walk-Ons:

Walk-Ons are participants who show up at an event but who have not yet registered. If a program does accept the walk-on, the coach or program director will require that an online registration be completed prior to participation. Since registrations are typically closed at the time of walk-on, you will most likely be required to have an invite code to complete the registration. If the program director or coach does not provide you an invite code, please submit an invite code request via the Contact Us page.

Try-out Registrations:

Try-out registrations only collect the fee for trying out at the time of registration. Please check the program abstract when registering traveling programs for information on additional charges such as league and tournament fees.

Capacity Limits:

Some programs and events have capacity limits due to limited resource such as field space. For traveling programs capacity limits are managed as part of the try-out process. For in-house programs capacity limits are based on a first-come first-serve basis. We are also working on adding a lottery registration as an additional option for managing programs and events with limited capacities.

Invite Codes:

Invite Codes are sent to waiting list, try-out or walk-on registrants allowing participants to register.

Roster Requests:

RAAA programs DO NOT honor roster requests except for extenuating circumstances such as medical concerns. Some in-house programs may honor mutual requests. Please check the program abstract for more information.

A "mutual request" is defined as player A requesting player B AND player B request player A.  Mutual requests can be used to help balance wanting to be with friends with ensuring that teams are formed in a fair and non-bias manner.

In-house programs do not allow participants to “Play-Up”. Some traveling programs may allow for participants to “play-up”. Please check the program abstract for more information.

Team Creation:

The athletechs system is often used to facilitate the forming of teams in a non-bias manner. Teams can be created based on grouping participants by gender, school, age group, and or geographic location. Please check the program abstract for more information on how teams are formed.

Eligibility:

Rosemount Area Athletic Association servers the children of the Rosemount area and ISD 196. Use the ISD 196 School Boundary Locator to find which school your child will attend.

Eligibility rules vary by sport, but in general eligibility for in-house programs is based on grade for the current school year (for example 2007-08 school year) while traveling programs are based on Date Of Birth as of a given date.

Since registrations for sports often occur months before the start of the season this statement needs to be clarified per registration session.

Eligibility for "Winter Sports" is based on grade for the CURRENT (2008-09) school year.

Eligibility for "Spring and Summer Sports" is based on grade for the CURRENT (2008-09) school year.

Eligibility for "Fall Sports" is based on grade for UPCOMING (2009-10) school year.

Eligibility for traveling programs is determined by age as of a given date, please check program eligibility rules for details.

Refunds:

All refund requests are subject to processing fees and approval by the Program Director and the RAAA Board of Directors. No refunds after the first practice and/or uniform distribution. Please submit all refund requests by logging into your athletechs account and click the Contact Us link or by forwarding a copy of your receipt to registrar@rosemount-aaa.org

Scholarships:

Scholarships are available for children whose family incomes are below a certain level. If your family qualifies for the Department of Health and Human Services Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program (welfare) or District 196 Free or Reduced Lunch Program please do not hesitate to apply for a scholarship. Scholarship applications are taken online during the registration process and handled discretely by athletechs and authorized RAAA representatives.
