Hope everyone is enjoying the start of summer! Attached is information on our Fall Basketball Skill Clinics. This is a great opportunity to work with the varsity coaching staff and players on your individual skills and to help you get ready for your traveling season. Signups: June- August Online (Traveling)
Season: October to March
Participant: Boys and Girls
Eligibility: Grades 4 to 8
Equipment: Team basketballs are provided.
Headsup Info: Grade is determined as of upcoming school year.
Play involves full court tournament play and sanctioned referees.
Approximately 2-3 practices per week at District 196 locations.
Level of play is more competitive than In-House ball.

Traveling basketball requires each participant to try out to demonstrate their abilities at an intermediate to advanced level of play. Players are evaluated by neutral parties who rate players and teams are formed accordingly.

Tryouts are held in the fall. Please contact the Program Director for more information.

Tryout Details:

  • Tryout dates will be announced by the end of August. - CHECK IMPORTANT DATES ABOVE!
  • Tryouts will be held in September - CHECK IMPORTANT DATES ABOVE!
  • Tryouts are open to boys and girls, grades 4 through 8.
  • Boys and girls tryouts are scheduled by grade for different times and days
  • Teams are formed @ A, B and C levels (registration permitting) and placement is based on skills shown at tryouts

We try our best to plan the tryouts around all other Fall Sports schedules, but are also restricted to the availability of the gym.

A MANDATORY Parents meeting will be held after tryouts and team placement at the Rosemount Community Center Auditorium. All players are required to have at least one (1) parent attend the meeting. Tournament Fees, Game Schedules, rosters, Practice Schedules and Program Updates will be provided at this meeting.

Volunteers keep our RAAA Traveling Basketball program running successfully:

Program Director Coordinates the entire program, monitoring registrations and recruiting volunteers for the various positions within the program. Provides information about the Traveling Basketball program on the RAAA website and coordinates master game and practice schedules. Makes arrangements for many of the tournaments RAAA Traveling Teams participate in.
RAAA Traveling Board Members Volunteers work jointly with the Program Director and participate in developing and maintaining established policy to ensure compliance with state and national basketball regulations and guidelines. Members attend Traveling Board Meetings on a regular basis, frequently scheduled for the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Rosemount Community Center. Coordinate efforts by hosting one or two annual RAAA Tournaments, participating in stocking and maintaining concession booths, preparing courts, coordinating referree scheduling.
Head Coaches Manage a team once teams are created, lead games and practices. May arrange for additional tournaments. Coordinates team participation in state or national tournaments.
Assistant Coaches Assist Head Coach in managing teams in games and practices, making arrangements for additional tournaments. Coordinates efforts with Head Coach when their team participates in state or national tournaments.
